Quality that stands the test of time:
Renovation of a villa using Lotusan® and SilcoTopIn

The villa, built in 2009, was repainted in 2025. Lotusan® from SÜDWEST was chosen for the façade. This façade paint is particularly suitable for surfaces prone to moss and algae growth. Inside, the raking light coming through large windows and high ceilings posed particular challenges. SilcoTopIn was used here. Master painter Thomas Jung has been working with SÜDWEST products for more than 20 years. In this interview, he talks about the renovation, the choice of paints and his long-standing collaboration with SÜDWEST sales representative Francesco Gennaro.

Mr Jung, how long have you been working with SÜDWEST products?
I’ve been using SÜDWEST products for more than 20 years – the full range, in fact. This includes varnishes, glazes, interior and exterior paints, as well as interior plasters and floor paints. Among the first products we worked with were All-Grund and All-Deck. I’ve also used KlimaKomfort and WDVSmart. I particularly like the fact that the individual products are designed to work well together.

What did you need to bear in mind when renovating the villa?
The villa was built in 2009 and renovated in 2025. On the façade, vegetation and algae growth were major issues. Inside, the high ceilings, large windows and the resulting raking light played a particularly significant role.

Why did you choose Lotusan?
I’ve had very good experiences with Lotusan® over many years. The product is durable and, given the existing vegetation, was the right choice for this property. As a master painter, I naturally want to leave a good and lasting impression on the client. For me, Lotusan® is simply an outstanding product – in fact, the very best for façades.

Do you also use other façade paints from SÜDWEST?
Yes, the choice always depends on the specific project and the clients’ requirements. In commercial projects, for example, we often use SiliconTherm or VarioSan®. Telekom is also one of our clients. We rely on SÜDWEST products, particularly when working with bold colours.

Why was SilcoTopIn used for the interior?
SilcoTopIn is washable and is very well suited to minor touch-ups. In this villa, the raking light, the high ceilings and the large windows were also decisive factors. SilcoTopIn is ideal for such challenging surfaces.

What criteria do you use when selecting interior paints?
That depends on the client, the property and the desired level of quality. In the commercial sector, we often use DIN White. For private clients, we usually use Profi XXL because it offers excellent value for money. In the high-end segment, we opt for SilcoTopIn.

To finish off, could you tell us a bit about your business?
My father took over the business in 1956. In 1998, it passed to me as the third generation. My son, Patrick Jung, is also a master painter and has been on board since 2014. Today, we employ ten staff and operate mainly in the commercial sector . Our company has grown over many years and has a well-established structure to match.
