Lotusan® – facade protection with Lotus-Effect®
Lotusan® and Lotusan® Therm are the only silicone facade paints with the Lotus-Effect®. The technology is modelled after nature – specifically, the water- and dirt-repellent properties of lotus leaves. The microtextured surface significantly reduces the contact area for water and dirt. Raindrops simply run off it and take loose dirt with them – keeping facades clean and dry for longer.
The Lotus-Effect® – inspired by nature
The inspiration for the Lotus-Effect® lies in nature itself. The surface of a lotus leaf has a special microtexture that prevents water from adhering to it. This means that drops simply roll off the surface rather than spreading across it.
In the process, they take loose dirt particles with them. This natural self-cleaning effect ensures that the plant leaves return to a clean and dry condition after each rainfall.
It’s a principle that we have brought to facade coatings, forming the basis for Lotusan® technology.

Lotusan® Therm – additional protection for more demanding situations
In exposed areas at the edges of forests or in the vicinity of bodies of water, or on the side of a building exposed to weathering or the north side, facades have to withstand significant stress.
Lotusan® Therm delivers additional protection in these situations.
Alongside the Lotus-Effect®, technical protection is provided thanks to encapsulated film protection with a long-lasting effect – for outstanding prevention of algae and fungal attack. This ensures the facade stays clean and looking great for longer, even under tough conditions.
