    Opening of Logistics Centre

With the official opening of the new Logistics Centre in the Böhl-Süd industrial area, SÜDWEST Lacke + Farben GmbH & Co. KG is paving the way for further growth and securing jobs in the region on a long-term basis.

“We have been growing faster than the market for years and have been investing continuously in the Böhl-Iggelheim plant since 2011,” states Hans-Jörg von Rhade, managing director at the SÜDWEST location. The new Logistics Centre replaces the three smaller warehouses that were being used up to this point and boasts almost 50 per cent more space for pallets. “We have expanded our range and are selling larger volumes,” says von Rhade. “With our new building, we now have a centrally located logistics hub offering sufficient capacity for the coming years.” Kitted out with modern IT systems, SÜDWEST is now in a position not only to store more products, but also to deliver high-volume sales orders faster and more flexibly. Covering an area of 3,200 square metres, the centre features 4,000 pallet spaces, a modern canteen, plus new break rooms and meeting rooms.

    Working in partnership with professionals

As a medium-sized company, SÜDWEST relies on short decision-making channels and close contact with the trade and applicators. In an industry survey, applicators have praised the excellent work of the SÜDWEST sales force. “In particular, the excellent technical advice we provide in partnership with professionals is one of our strengths, as is our flexibility,” emphasises the managing director.

In total, the company, which was established in 1923, has invested more than EUR 10 million in the Logistics Centre, securing jobs in Böhl-Iggelheim on a long-term basis. “The new building is a clear sign of how embedded we are in the region, and this is set to remain the case,” says von Rhade.

    Commitment to the region

Representatives from the world of politics also took part in the official opening of the Logistics Centre. Peter Christ, mayor of Böhl-Iggelheim, referred to the site’s significance for the local economy: “Securing jobs and training places and making an area an attractive place to do business relies on a good relationship between the political sphere and companies – and this is something we have achieved here.” For district administrator Clemens Körner, the following is important: “This entrepreneurial undertaking is a clear commitment to the region. Through active dialogue, we provide small and medium-sized businesses with the support they need from our side. The investments SÜDWEST are making demonstrate that, together, we are already succeeding in this – and this is something we can be proud of.”
